At Uptime Technical Solutions our goal is to provide our clients with a reliable, secure and efficient computer environment. To this extent, we design and maintain the network components around the customer's needs, within their budget and to industry standard. We have strong relationships with our vendors and can supply a wide range of top brand hardware and software. We are the single point of contact for your computer hardware needs and as installers of your equipment we stand behind our gear and our work. However, if you have existing computers or prefer to purchase your own hardware, we are just as comfortable working with that!

What should you look for on a business-class network?

     * A Server The Server centralizes your network making it more efficient and simpler to manage. It becomes the central controller of network traffic - like a traffic light at an intersection. It manages the security policy for your domain, becomes the central repository for files and databases, performs backups, stores and routes email, and can be configured to perform a number of other useful tasks.

Does your business have a server?
Is it configured as a Domain Controller with the workstations joined to the Domain?
Is all of your data stored on the server?
Do you often have problems with printing or accessing files?

     * Backup System A proper backup system should not only back up your company's data, but also take an image of your entire System, Domain Information and User Database. This greatly reduces downtime from a day or two, to just a few hours.

Do you have a proper Backup System?
Is anyone checking that it actually works?
Does it back up your whole server?
Do you have a plan in the event that the building burns down or if there is a break-in?
What if an important file goes missing and nobody notices for a week, a month?

     * Security The FCC and the FTC mandate that "Personally Identifiable Information" (PII - any information that can be used to contact a given individual) is secured "to industry standards". Virtually every business stores not only PII, but often performs Credit Card transactions. Many businesses store enough information about their clients for a thief to take out loans and credit cards (Identity Theft), so properly securing your network is not only the ethical thing to do - it's the law!

Does your network have enforced strong passwords?
Are the passwords automatically rotated?
Do you have a firewall?
Is anybody checking it?
Do you have a wireless network?

     * Clean Environment This means a business-level Anti-Virus solution that is light-weight to not bog down the computers as well as being centralized on the server to provide a single place of monitoring and maintenance. It also means automated policies and user training to keep unwanted trojan software from invading and slowing down your computers.

Is your network running slow?
Are programs crashing?
Do you have unwanted pop-ups?
Does the computer take a long time to boot up?
